A visual archive of Marilyn Monroe’s flight history—

told through items of style, scale, and careful research.

This site brings together two carefully curated collections:

A series of vintage lighters—including licensed Zippo, Bic, and Champ designs celebrating Marilyn Monroe as a cultural icon, particularly the now-discontinued Stars of Hollywood series (2000–2006)—and rare mid-century lighters such as Pan Am-branded Penguin models and the Japanese Canary Singing lighter, chosen for their historical context.

Alongside them are 22 model aircraft representing verified flights Marilyn Monroe is known to have taken. Each was identified through photographs, airline timetables, and press archives. Paired together, these objects reflect a long-standing fascination with Monroe’s connection to aviation history—and the small, enduring artifacts that help bring her journeys to life.

This page presents a long-in-the-making tribute: model aircraft Marilyn Monroe is known to have flown, displayed alongside vintage lighters that reflect her cultural impact. While not directly paired, these small-scale objects share an era—and offer a satisfying contrast of design, history, and iconography. Includes a link to the full Aircraft Model Photo slideshow.
